Who are we?
We are a friendly and inclusive cricket club situated in Stakeford, Northumberland. We have two competitive teams playing in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League, a friendly team who play midweek and Sunday games as well as a thriving juniors section and a brand new women's team!
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are crowdfunding because our existing changing rooms no longer cater for our growing club, they are small, dated and only cater for two same gender teams, in recent years we are thrilled to have developed female cricketers and have introduced them to our competitive senior teams, unfortunately at the moment they are forced to arrive and leave games in full match kit and have no changing, toilet or shower facilities available to them. Our club has also recently restarted our juniors section and we now have a women's team, it is vital for the future of our club that we can fairly provide for all those who want to enjoy playing cricket.
We are a non-for-profit cricket club who ensure all of our junior teams, female teams and new mixed team players can access cricket with no cost implications. Our only income is through regular playing members subscriptions, this was something that we decided to wave during the COVID-19 crisis, the knock on effect of this is that that vital project which has been our priority for a while has suffered, this crowdfunding will be vital to ensuring development of our club.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We will spend the money raised by installing a brand new facility at Stakeford & Bomarsund Welfare capable of housing two teams, female players and officials all at the same time. The completion of this project would also allow us to renovate our existing pavilion into an indoor area for spectators, again improving the facilities and the experience at the club for our players, officials & supporters.
Community impact
Not only will this project have a huge positive impact on our senior, junior, mens and womens teams it will also benefit all those who use the facilities at Stakeford & Bomarsund Welfare including our sister club Bomarsund Bowls and the many junior and senior football teams in Stakeford, Bomarsund, Choppington & Guidepost.
