Any extra earned over the goal will go towards A's fees for her third year.
A only has a week or so to raise the remainder of her uni fee for her second year at uni. She is an extraordinary, courageous, dedicated student whom I can personally vouch for. Here's her story, in her own words.
'I’m an international student at the University of [redacted], who is currently being prevented from registering for her second year of study because of financial difficulties. I decided to leave home in [redacted], Peru, to pursue a degree in English literature at my dream university. Money has always been tight, so I knew that to attend university in England, I would have to get a scholarship. After lots of hard work, I was awarded a [redacted] Scholarship for International students that covers 10,000 pounds out of my international student tuition fee. My mother, who is back in Peru, was committed to covering the rest of my tuition fee. However, she suffers from coronary heart disease, she has had two heart attacks in the past, and undergone heart surgery. On top of that, my father passed away from cancer when I was twelve, so she only receives a window pension of not even sixty-five pounds per month. The current economic situation in Peru is very unstable, resulting in poor results for my mother’s antiques business. Given my mother’s current financial situation, even with this scholarship, she hasn’t been able to get the money required to pay off what’s owed of the tuition fees for my first year of university. The university has clearly stated that if I am not able to pay the overdue balance before the end of the third week of term, I won’t be able to register for my second year of study. Not only will I be unable to register, but I will lose my scholarship. Even more so, my student visa will be taken away, meaning that I would be sent back to Peru and have to leave behind the life and wonderful friendships I’ve spent a year building here in [redacted]. I have spoken to the university about my financial hardships since the end of 2022, but other than payment plans, I have not received any other kind of financial help or even empathy for the situation I find myself in. I currently have an outstanding tuition debt of £3,611.72 that prevents me from registering and puts my visa and life in [redacted] at risk. All I want is to be able to study and complete this English degree I'm so very passionate about. I have worked so hard to get here, and have so many plans for second year, so many activities I want to take part in and lectures I'm looking forward to attend. But none of this would be possible without your help, which is why we have started this crowdfunding campaign. Any donations are welcome. Please help me in continuing my studies and being able to stay in [redacted].'
